For the Little Girl Who Dreamed of This

Happy Diwali to you and your family! ❤️

Hey you!

HAPPY DIWALI!! 🪔🪔🪔

Okay, I’m a couple days early… but I just LOVE this time of the year! As we light diyas around our home, I’m feeling extra thankful for everyone around me, including you and this whole community! ❤️

Wishing you and your family love, prosperity, and peace in the year ahead. May this Diwali bring you everything you’ve been wishing for.

If you’ve been keeping up with my stories you already know this month has been nonstop. From birthdays, events, and oh… did I mention Times Square commercials?!?! Hold on, hold on, let’s get into it. 😉

Calling All Libras!

October is hot!

Why does it feel like it’s literally everyones birthday month 🤔. And what trips me up even more is how close everyones birthdays are to each other! Pretty sure I’ve sent out 20 texts already!

But incase I forget, happy birthday to everyone all at once! 😂

Rian and I celebrate our birthdays four days apart, and this year he’s officially entered his teens. Someone tell me if that’s a good or bad thing, because seriously… how is my baby 13 already? 🥺
He’s officially taller than me now which feels just unfair and means I’ve lost all negotiating power!! 😭 Send help (and a stool).

Watching him grow into a young man is one of the greatest joys of my life. But motherhood isn’t just about watching them grow… it’s about growing with them. Every year, Rian teaches me something new and reminds me to loosen my grip a little to make space for who he’s becoming. As he steps into this next chapter, I feel so proud (and just a little nostalgic), I am so excited to see all the places this kid goes. 🫶

And speaking of growing with our kids… I’m getting old too! 😭 But what a blessing that is right? It took me until my 40s to realize that aging isn’t something to fear, but something to treasure. Not everyone gets the gift of more time, and every year is a privilege 🙌🏽. I’m holding little Ami close, the girl who dreamed big, worried often, and didn’t yet know how beautifully life would unfold. I’m deeply grateful for where I’ve been, filled with hope for what’s ahead, and in awe of the simple joy of being here.

Maybe you’ve seen the new AI image trend where people are hugging their younger selves. I wanted to get in on it, and to be able to do that for my birthday just makes me a little emotional. 🥺 I am proud of that little girl.

If you want to try the trend for yourself, go on Google Gemini and add pics of your younger self and some recent pics of you and enter this prompt:

“Take a photo taken from a polaroid camera. The photo should look like an ordinary photograph, without an explicit subject or property. The photo should have a slight blur and a consistent light source, like a flash from a dark room, scattered throughout the photo. Don't change the face. Change the background behind those two people with white curtains. With that kid and we make cute poses and should hug each other”

(FYI, you might have to try a couple of times for it to come out properly.)

I have a feeling some of you might want to get these framed for your home! 😊

The Festival of Lights

Okay, let’s get into all the Diwali action going on… where do I even start.

So many Diwali events happening everywhere right now! Honestly, I love seeing our culture being celebrated across the country and inviting more people to learn about Diwali.
My kids’ schools even have Diwali parties now and I’ll admit, I get a little jealous that we didn’t have those same experiences growing up! But it’s such a wonderful reminder of how much things have changed. The world is becoming more open, accepting, and appreciative of new cultures and traditions 🪔. And can we take a moment for this?! California officially recognized Diwali as a statewide holiday! HOW AMAZING is that?! This is progress. 👏

This Diwali was extra special because I got to take part in a P&G commercial for Bounty! And wait for it… it’s airing in Times Square!! Are 👏 you 👏 kidding 👏 me?!

Unfortunately, not everything went as planned 😞… our watch party in NYC got completely rained out, so we didn’t get to see it this time. But I’m heading back in November when it officially plays on one of those big screens, and honestly, I’m still pinching myself.

I’m so beyond grateful for opportunities like this. Seeing myself in Times Square has always been a dream, and even though I have to be a little more patient, I’m sooo excited!

This Diwali season has been nothing short of amazing, but I’m most looking forward to celebrating on Monday with the kids and hubby! Hope your Diwali is just as blessed, surrounded by family and filled with light! ❤️

My Recent Outfits

My “All That Glitters Ball” look, hosted by a dear friend @Anjula!
This Dolly J Studio’s lehenga is actually such a dream😍, complete with a beautiful side-drape dupatta. I layered bold pieces from Malabar Gold & Diamonds (rings, bracelets, earrings) and carried a pink crystal clutch from ShopRock Knot clutch for for a fun pop of contrast. I finished the look with purple Aquazzura heels. Couldn’t help but feel like a princess!

This is what I wore for my shoot for the Bounty commercial!

A bright green lehenga to match the branding! And can we talk about how Heeral Mehta pulled this together in less than a week??? From sketches to reality we really leaned into bright colors to match the festive feel of Diwali! I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out! Highly recommend checking out Sari Palace for some beautiful pieces!

Black & gold evening for our Time Square event!
The velvet, gold, and a touch of tradition... @holichicbymegha pieces always bring the best of south Asian style with a modern twist. Paired this skirt set with a @sabyasachiofficial belt, some tights and my Amazon pumps for the colder Fall season we’re entering.

My Newest Collab

I’m so excited to finally share my curated collaboration with Goenka Jewels, it’s officially live just in time for Diwali!

This collection was such a labor of love, created to reflect the different sides of who we are, glam+ chic+ simple, with pieces that are versatile for day to night.

The choker set is a true statement piece that feels timeless and elegant. I love that it’s bold but not heavy, and the natural sage-green stones with hand-carved accents?? DETAILS, DETAILS DETAILS. Makes it look so special!

For something a little more playful, I designed a dainty floral set inspired by Mila, a sweet pendant and matching studs. Keeping this one so simple, but the flower pendant really grabs all the attention. 🌸

And finally, a delicate chain waist belt that ties it all together! It’s detailed with polki, diamonds, and pearls, and works beautifully with both Indian and Western looks. Wanted to keep this one super versatile, so the simple dainty look really helps with that! Would love to see how you guys wear this with western looks! 😊

This collection is available on the Goenka website and use discount code Ami20 for 20% off your purchase! 🫶

I made a quick Diwali template for Kai’s school party and thought some of you guys could use it as well for classes, decor/ cards or family Whatsapp groups! Take a screenshot! 😊

I’ll be in your inbox soon! Hope you enjoyed todays read! 💗
